PROPOSED BUS ROUTE CHANGES

SEPTA Forward's Bus Revolution proposes to deliver "an easier to use, more convenient and more reliable bus network informed by its riders".

The project was initiated in 2021 and held a number of community feedback sessions throughout 2022. At a hearing on Monday, January 23, SEPTA received criticism from City Council Members and local residents for what will be the first changes to current routes since the transit authority came into existence in 1964.

The proposed plan cuts the amount of routes from 125 to 99, changes route numbers, and 'straightens' routes along arterial lines. In its current form, it will impact specific routes that currently serve the Spring Garden neighborhood, including the 49 bus to West Philadelphia and the 33 bus towards Market Street.

SEPTA announced it will unveil a new version of its plan during a series of public meetings this March, as it works toward implementation in fall 2024. For more information on the SEPTA's Bus Revolution project and the upcoming public meetings this March, visit the Bus Revolution website.
