Keeping Spring Garden Clean & Green

Spring is in the air, and the Spring Garden neighborhood is set for a little 'TLC' with two main beautification events this April.

The Spring Garden Community Cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 5th, from 9am to Noon. The event is happening in conjunction with the Philly Spring Cleanup, and City trucks will be picking-up bags throughout the neighborhood. You can sign-up to clean specific blocks or to help out at Roberto Clemente Playground for our 'Care for Clemente Day', where we'll have over 100 volunteers working on projects to spruce-up the park.

Supplies & refreshments will be available at Clemente starting at 9am. Please leave bags on corners of intersections within the neighborhood from Broad Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, and from Spring Garden Street to Fairmount Avenue.

The following Saturday was the date of our SGCA Spring Tree Planting, however, due to an unfortunate mix-up with PHS, the street tree applications for Spring 2025 have been pushed to Fall 2025.

Instead, we will have an SGCA Tree Care Day on Saturday, April 12th, from 9am to Noon, with tree pit maintenance, pruning, and mulching for younger trees within the neighborhood and along the Spring Garden St and Fairmount Ave Commercial Corridors. Please email sgcaphilly@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering.

We also encourage residents & businesses with an open pit or space for a tree in front of their properties to apply for a free street tree through PHS's Street Tree Program. The deadline for street tree applications for Fall 2025 is this coming May 5th!
