  Weeknights Live

  Great news! This past week, the Philadelphia Department of Commerce's Nighttime Economy Unit launched "Weeknights Live", a new year-round initiative to help energize early-week evenings through live performances at participating businesses across the City.  

  What began at local hotels on Tuesdays has now expanded to Commercial Corridors on Mondays & Wednesdays, with Bar Hygge and IOS Restobar participating on Fairmount Ave on Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm. Stop for some good food, nice vibes, and great music
  

  When and where.

  Time: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

  Current locations - Wednesday – Fairmount commercial corridor

  • Ios Restobar – 2028 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130
  • Bar Hygge – 1720 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19103
  • Avana – 2200 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130
  • Kite & Key – 1836 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia PA, 19130

  Performances and activations typically begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Each event is subject to the hours of operations from each establishment, including cancellations and holidays.

  Movie Night at Roberto Clemente Playground this Wednesday, September 2nd

  Philadelphia Parks & Recreation will host a "Movie Night" for the Spring Garden community on Wednesday, September 2nd, in the ball field at Roberto Clemente Playground at 18th & Wallace Streets. The event is free and open to the public.

  Kid-friendly activities and family fun will start at 6pm, with a showing of The Croods: A New Age set to begin at sunset, around 7:30pm. Mr Softee will be on hand, and there will be free popcorn for children in attendance (while supplies last!). Come out with friends and family to enjoy some end-of-summer entertainment.

  Free Admission to National Constitution Center to Celebrate First Amendment Day

  The National Constitution Center, with support from the James L. Knight Foundation, will be offering free admission and a day of programming to celebrate First Amendment Day on Wednesday, September 9th, from 10am to 5pm.

  The protection of our basic freedoms will be explored through gallery and walking tours, special activities and installations, and a keynote conversation around the impacts of AI on those freedoms. Tickets are free with reservations strongly encouraged.

  3rd Annual Spring Garden Sunflower Festival set for September 12th

  The 3rd Annual Spring Garden Sunflower Festival is set for Saturday, September 12th, from Noon to 8pm on the 1700 & 1800 blocks of the Fairmount Ave Commercial Corridor.

  Presented by the SGCA and Councilmember Jeffery Young Jr, the marquee event offers fun for the whole family, with 50+ vendors and service providers, a Kids' Zone with crafts, a beer garden with adult games, and live entertainment throughout the day.

  Opportunities to sponsor the event and to volunteer at the festival are available, and there are a limited number of vendor spots still open. Apply today and join us in September as we celebrate the end of summer in style
