TRAFFIC CALMING ON 22ND STREET

Members from the City's Office of Multimodal Planning (OMP), a part of the Office of Transportation & Infrastructure Systems, presented options for traffic-calming measures to be implemented along N 22nd Street at our recent SGCA General Meeting on April 9th, 2024.

The plan is split into 3-stages and addresses the roadway from Pennsylvania Ave to Brown St. The first phase - moving the bike lane to the left-hand side of the road and clearly defining 'turning' and 'straight' traffic lanes on 22nd St from Pennsylvania Ave approaching Spring Garden St - is already in the works.

Please see OMP's proposal to address the 2nd phase - 22nd St between Spring Garden & Green Streets - which includes options for continuing the bike lane from the south side of Spring Garden St and turning the ill-defined two lane roadway into one lane, while maintaining parking along that stretch.

The SGCA will be providing feedback to OMP as the plan proceeds. Please send any questions or comments regarding the project to sgcaphilly@gmail.com.
